The Republican plan for health reform - and the use of the terms "plan," "health" and "reform" are probably incorrect in this context - will not extend health coverage. Check out the Congressional Budget Office report.
And although I didn't mean for the title of this post to be a pun, it does seem appropriate, no?

But abortion is NOT health care either.
The Catholic Church has come out against every current bill proposed by Democrats:
"No one should be required to pay for or participate in abortion. It is essential that the legistation clearly apply to this new program longstanding and widely supported federal restrictions on abortion funding and mandates, and protections for the rights of conscience. No current bill meets this test....If acceptable language in these areas cannot be found, we will have to oppose the health care bill vigorously."

As a pro-life registered Republican, I urge members of my party and everyone who is pro-life to support Bart Stupak's (D-Michigan) amendment that addresses our concerns against abortion funding and conscience rights.

Add the Lutheran Church-Mo. Synod to the voice of the Roman Catholics in regard to the sanctity of life. As a Mo. Synod Lutheran Christian and a registered Republican (who has supported like-thinking Democrats) I also urge the majority who are Pro-Life in the US House to vote FOR the Amendment of Ben Stupak later this evening!

And Karen - Just where in the term, "Republican plan for health reform" do you find anything to suggest that "an extension of health coverage" has to be included? Isn't that being a bit presumptious of you? After all complete elimination of health coverage could be included in "Republican plan for health care", couldn't it? But that is not what the plan covers.
