GOP using polls to govern

Remember how the GOP use to chide Clinton because, THEY SAID, he used polls to decide how to govern?

This just in- the GOP hired a POLLSTER to determine how to attack President Obama's proposed stimulus package.

"Hello, Pot?  This is the kettle...."

Fox News is full of idiots

Today a talking head on Fox News (Fair and Balanced, you know) was speaking with a Republican Senator about President Obama's proposed stimulus package.

The Senator noted that this is a lot of money (true), that will be borrowed (true), and that we have never borrowed any amount close to this in the past (LIE)- how about Presdent Bush's bailout of $700 Billion?

See, that was okay- because it went to their rich banker buddies. 

Oh, and the fox news commentator- did not question the Senator's comments at all.

GOP playing politics with the economy

The GOP members of the House all voted against President Obama's proposed stimulus package.  Why?  They say because there is too much pork in it that will not stimulate the economy.

Mind you, when they were trying to build bridges to nowhere, pork was fine,

The real reason they voted no- they are not happy that a VAST MAJORITY of Americans support Obama.  These lunkheads are in for a bumpy ride next election season!

GOP Caucus news

Two things:

1. It was announced at the GOP caucus on Saturday that Paula Hughes will NOT be giving up her council seat.  According to the JG:

Hughes said she was offered the job but after much deliberation decided it wasn’t the right move for her or her family.

Hmmm......I have been told that the Governor decided to NOT fill the position due to budgeting issues.

2. Outgoing councilman Cal Miller wanted Kevin Podlaski to win his seat in the caucus.  I am thinking that Podlaski's voting in the 2008 DEMOCRATIC primary may have hurt his chances a bit!

Here's a fun little way to see what President Obama is up to.

Summary:  after 3 days in office (.29% of his term), President Obama has already followed through on 1.0% of his promises.  Nearly 3% more are in the works, including things like closing the prison at Guantanamo, creating the $500 per worker tax credit, and expanding eligibility for the State Children's Health Insurance Fund.

Looks like she is NOT going to be going to Indy after all.

How urban legends get started

I was listening to Pat White yesterday (I know, I really, really shouldn't), and he was asking for callers reactions to President Obama's Inaugural speech.

One caller said that he was concerned that Obama made a mistake in his history.  The caller then said that  Obama made reference to President Washington returning to the "burned out capitol".  The caller said that this was an error because the Capitol building was constructed YEARS after Washington was President.

The caller thought "we should have a President that knows something about history."

Okay, I have gone over Obama's speech transcript about 10 times.  I cannot find ANY reference to this at all.  This is how urban legends get started.  A whole bunch of right wing WOWO listeners will, today, be quoting this guys statements as FACT.
